It made me look! To me this was more about the author and her bond, kinship (?) with Mendieta and their shared geography and resulting journey. It wasn’t what I expected or wanted when I was teased with the preview. A dissection of the Eden allusion and how Cuba wasn’t and couldn’t be her Eden is all you are giving us?

It’s important that her voice continues to be heard and understood correctly. His letter to you was more than mansplaining. It was an abusive controlling male still trying to feel in control of her life via her legacy. Perhaps he understood all along that Ana was much more talented than he could ever hope to be.
